Qiuping Zhang has expertise in nesprin family research in cardiovascular biology field, specifically on understanding the complex roles of nesprin-1 and -2, family members of multi-isomeric scaffolding proteins, in regulating normal and pathological processes in the heart and muscle. She has extensive studies on the role of nesprins in myoblast differentiation and function as well as mutations in nesprin-1 or -2 in association with Emery Dreifuss muscular dystrophy and dilated cardiomyopathy. Her current research is focusing on defining the roles of nesprins in cardiac cell function by determining the functional significance of novel nesprin-1 and -2 mutations on the linker of nucleoskeleton-and-cytoskeleton complex that connects the nuclear envelope to the actin cytoskeleton, and also identifying novel roles for nesprins in the sarcomere. This may reveal novel pathways that contribute to the development of cardiac cell dysfunction and cardiomyopathy.

Sunny Po is a cardiac electrophysiologist and has his expertise in the effects of the autonomic nervous system on cardiac arrhythmias. He has discovered that simultaneous activation of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system plays a great role in triggering atrial fibrillation. He also pioneered the therapy of using low-level vagal stimulation, at the strength not slowing the sinus rate or atrio-ventricular conduction, to treat atrial fibrillation.

She is principle investigator at Section of Immunological Assessment of PTSD, TCEMED – Plovdiv, resident in Clinical Immunology at St.George University Hospital and assistant professor in Clinical Immunology at Medical University-Plovdiv. Dr. Mohamad Miqdady is American Board certified in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. He is the Division Chief, Ped. GI, Hepatology & Nutrition Division at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in UAE. He is also an adjunct staff at Cleveland Clinic, Ohio USA and member of the FISPGHAN Council (Federation of International Societies of Pediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology, and Nutrition) Expert member FISPGHAN Malnutrition/Obesity Expert team. Dr. Miqdady completed his Fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children€™s Hospital in Houston, TX, USA. He held the position of Assistant Professor at Jordan University of Science and Technology in Jordan for six years prior joining SKMC.

Dr. Zoe Bouslenko is a physician, specializing in cardiology and works at the Cardiology Rehabilitation Foundation S. Maugeri I.R.C.C.S in Turin. Dr Alfonso Jurado-Román is currently Interventional cardiologist at La Paz University Hospital (Madrid). He was graduated in Medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid (Extraordinary Award and Scholarship for academic excellence from the Community of Madrid) and did his training in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at University Hospital 12 de Octubre (Madrid). He achieved his PhD degree in Myocardial Infarction at 2015 from the Complutense University of Madrid. He has developed great interest in cardiomyopathies, with training at the Heart Hospital in London and working as research collaborator at University Hospital 12 de Octubre. He has been a professor of Cardiology during seven years and professor of statistics during 2 years. He has been the Cardiology Trainee Program Tutor during his period at the University General Hospital of Ciudad Real. He is author of 85 Scientific publications in international journals and 185 book chapters. Currently his main interest in interventional cardiology is Complex PCI, including chronic total occlusions and calcified lesions, and intracoronary imaging and Physiology. He is currently coordinating these areas at University Hospital La Paz and is the principal investigator of several studies in this field such as Roller Coaster Trial (Rotational Atherectomy, Lithotripsy or laser in calcified lesions) and LUDICO study (Coronary laser at undeletable and uncrossable lesions). He is a member of EuroCTO club an also of Euro4C. In addition, he is a member of the European Association of Percutaneous coronary interventions (EAPCI), member of the ESC working group on Myocardial and pericardial diseases and member of the ESC working group on Acute cardiac care. He has also coursed a master’s in clinical management, Medical and Assistance Management and a Master in Current Approach to Structural Heart Disease.

Author of 91 publications in national and international indexed magazines and 191 chapters in books. He has presented 175 scientific communications at international conferences and 260 at national conferences. Director of 3 doctoral theses. Elite Reviewer and member of the Editorial Committee of REC Interventional Cardiology and reviewer of different international scientific journals.
